Summer Activities Abound with
Lincoln Parks and Recreation

Want to get outside and have fun this summer?  Lincoln Parks and Recreation can help. Lincoln offers 134 miles of trails, 92 playgrounds, nine public pools, six recreation centers, five golf courses, four dog runs, a nature center, and beautiful public gardens, all managed by Lincoln’s Parks and Recreation (LPR) department. LPR programs include recreation summer day camps, before and after school clubs, classes for individuals with special needs, adult and youth team sports, nature based classes and events, swimming lessons, wellness and fitness classes for all ages, and a variety of free events.

This summer cool off at one of Lincoln’s 9 pools from 1 – 6 PM daily.  Family swims are offered from 6 to 8 PM for $10 per family at the following pools:

  • Monday: Belmont
  • Tuesday: Eden
  • Wednesday: Irvingdale and Highlands
  • Thursday: Ballard
  • Friday: Arnold Heights and Woods

The free Trago Sprayground in Trago Park, 22nd and “U” streets, is open from 11 AM to 7 PM, Monday-Sunday, now through Labor Day.

Lincoln City Golf offers fun camps and golf leagues for youth with skills at any level.   No prior experience or golf clubs needed. Most camps include group lessons, Kids on Course membership, and more. Learn more.

If you have ever wanted to take a tennis lesson, learn about backyard composting or attend a summer camp, Lincoln Parks and Recreation offers all of those activities and many more at their six recreation centers, Pioneers Park Nature Center, Woods Tennis Center and in their team sports programs. 

 
You can canoe for free at Holmes Lake on June 30, July 28, and August 25, 5:30 - 7:30 PM.  Canoes, lifejackets, instruction on canoe safety and how to work the oars provided. Due to the popularity, pre-registration will be required.
