Schmieding Foundation Center for Active Living a Big Hit with Aging Partners Clients
When Aging Partners moved into their new headquarters at Victory Park, 600 S. 70th St., in early May, they knew their new Schmieding Foundation Center for Active Living fitness center would be a popular destination for clients in search of a healthier aging experience.  Turns out, fitness center clientele increased by more than 300 percent during the first 100 days alone.

A big highlight has been the addition of new, state-of-the-art, pneumatic (air-powered) Keiser brand fitness equipment designed specifically for older adults.  The new equipment is easy to use with weights adjusted with the push of a button.  Cardio equipment includes NuStep recumbent cross trainers, exercise bikes, treadmills, an elliptical machine and a Helix lateral training bike.  There is something at the fitness center for everyone, regardless of ability and fitness level.  Appointments with a personal trainer are also available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at no charge.

The new Victory Park location also houses a new in-house Health Promotion Clinic with a long, ongoing partnership with the UNMC College of Nursing.  Foot care services as well as bone density screening, blood glucose screening, cholesterol checks, ear wax removal and other services are offered by supervised student nurses by appointment.

The future is bright for those over 60 who want to bring a healthier aging experience to their lives.  The Schmieding Foundation Center for Active Living is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Call 402-441-7575 for more information or a current class schedule and get signed up for services.  For more information on Aging Partners, visit their website.
