March 2015 - 10 Health TV

Celebrating Year 3 with Great New Programming!

How We Began
10 Health TV began in January of 2012 converting the existing local public access channel ten from its format as a bulletin board for local non-profits  organizations and events to dedicated health, wellness, and fitness programming.

More Places to Find 10 Health
With a goal of broadcasting a reliable source of relevant health related information to the Lincoln community, has grown to be a great go-to source for people of all ages, businesses, and non-profits.  Now 10 Health programming includes not only TV (Time Warner Cable digital channel 71.15 or soon to be Windstream channel 10), but You Tube at 10HealthLincoln, with live streaming also available from the 10 Health web site.

The newest series from 10 Health TV, Shape of the City, is a monthly program focusing on local, relevant, and timely health and wellness topics, organizations, and tips. Show topics have ranged from suicide prevention to breastfeeding awareness and bicycling projects throughout the city.  The program has also included simple tips on winter biking, starting a running routine and the health benefits of various vegetables.  The program is funded by the Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln, through a Partnership to Improve Community Health grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Community Health Endowment of Lincoln begins their third Community Conversations series, covering the following themes:  “I Treated Ebola Patients”, “I Am a Suicide Survivor”, “I Was Homeless, and “I Live with Mental Health Challenges”.

Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) is getting us moving with the Let’s Move Lincoln! initiative. Look for fun video challenges to get you and your family eating healthier and keeping active!   LLCHD is also partnering up with other local organizations to educate citizens on sharing the streets.   Whether you’re a biker, cyclist or pedestrian, there will be something for everyone.

The “Bright Spots” series returns to highlight more health heroes in the Lincoln community.  Began last year, the first shows focused on the outstanding and effective efforts of Prescott Elementary and Lefler Middle Schools.

Other upcoming programs will introduce viewers to a variety of exercise routines, simple and healthy cooking ideas, and ways to make gardening easy and fun for the whole family.

10 Health TV also has a community calendar .  To post health or wellness related event on the calendar or or a suggested show topic, contact Melissa Fuller at: mfuller@lincoln.ne.gov.
